Privacy Policy

ShotSort (“we”, “our”, “us”) is an Android application that automatically organizes your screenshots using on-device OCR and user-defined rules.

We do not operate any server that receives your screenshots, OCR results, rules, or file paths. The core functionality of ShotSort works entirely offline and on your device. This policy describes the limited data interactions that do occur, specifically through three third-party Google services: AdMob (advertising), Google Play Billing (the ad-free purchase) and Google Play (the in-app rating prompt).

ShotSort never transmits the following to any server:

• Your screenshots or any image data
• Text extracted from screenshots by OCR
• Your sorting rules, keywords, or folder paths
• Your device's file structure or directory listings
• Your name, email address, or any account information

No account or sign-in is required to use ShotSort. All sorting rules and preferences are stored locally in a Room database and DataStore on your device and are never synced externally.

ShotSort stores the following only on your device, in a local database and preferences:

• Your sorting rules, and your chosen source and output folders
• An activity log for each sorted screenshot: file name, destination folder, time, and the first 200 characters of its text (used for search and undo)
• For screenshots that matched no rule, the first 300 characters of their text, used only to suggest new keywords (old entries are pruned automatically)
• App settings, such as whether monitoring is on, and how often the rating prompt has been shown

None of this is sent to us. Two features let you move some of it out of the app, and only when you choose to: Export Training Data (Settings) writes sorted file names, destination folders and text snippets to a file in a location you pick, and Export Rules copies your custom rules to the clipboard. Where that data goes afterwards is up to you.

Clearing the app's data or uninstalling removes all of it. Sorted screenshots in your output folder are not deleted.

The free version of ShotSort displays banner advertisements, and occasional full-screen (interstitial) advertisements around screenshot scans, served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use certain data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, subject to Google's own privacy policy.

Data AdMob may collect includes:

• Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID / GAID)
• Device model, OS version, and language
• IP address (used to infer general location)
• App interaction signals (ad impressions, clicks)

You can opt out of personalized ads at any time via Android Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization. The one-time ad-free upgrade removes all ads.

Where required (for example in the European Economic Area and the UK), ShotSort shows Google's consent form (User Messaging Platform) before ads load, so you can choose how your data is used for advertising.

The ad-free upgrade is available as a one-time in-app purchase through Google Play Billing. All payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play — we do not receive, store, or process your payment card details or billing address.

When you buy the upgrade, Google Play provides us with a purchase token that confirms the purchase status. This token is verified on-device only (no backend server is involved). Your purchase is tied to your Google account and can be restored on any device signed into the same account.

After you have sorted several screenshots, ShotSort may ask you to rate the app using Google Play's in-app review dialog. The dialog is shown and handled by Google Play, and ShotSort does not receive your rating or review text. ShotSort only remembers on your device how many times and when it has asked, so it does not ask too often.

ShotSort requests the following permissions. All are used solely for local, on-device operations:

ShotSort may display local notifications on your device to indicate service status (e.g. monitoring active) or errors. These notifications are generated locally on your device and no notification content is transmitted to any external server.

ShotSort is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of ShotSort after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
